Healthy Water Forum
The Great Barrier Reef Foundation’s Healthy Water Program is one of the organisation’s primary Reef protection components. It creates opportunities to ‘reset’ the water quality discussion, supporting Traditional Owners in sharing how they are undertaking water quality projects on their Country. Two significant milestones for the Program were the Healthy Water Forums held in Cairns in August of 2022 and October of 2023.
Working with the Great Barrier Reef Foundation Traditional Owners Partnership Team and Traditional Owners of the Great Barrier Reef, we used a combination of new and existing Indigenous-designed materials to create a series of templates and materials for the Forums. This included posters, banners, backdrops, merchandise and a post-event video. The Forums were both major successes, showcasing the amazing work being done on Country and highlighting what Traditional Owners can achieve when they have a seat at the decision-making table and are positioned as leaders in Australia’s largest-ever effort to protect the Reef and its Catchments.
