NAIDOC Week – Cairns

It was a big NAIDOC Week up North! Nick and Justine joined Lex and Jim in our Cairns office for a jam-packed week, starting with the Cairns NAIDOC Breakfast.

We heard from Wayne Costelloe, Semara Rose at Deadly Inspiring Youth Doing Good (@diydgofficial), Daniel Billy of the Torres Strait 8, and Murrawah Johnson of the Wangan & Jagalingou Family Council. These people, and their organisations, are championing Indigenous culture and causes in the region, strengthening their communities and bringing about real change. This year’s NAIDOC was not only a celebration; it is a call to action for us to continue to rally together and ‘Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up!’

We also got to experience some incredible art, at the opening of the Cairns Indigenous Art Fair and in some of the city’s fantastic galleries.

We feel so lucky to be connected to this amazing place and the community. Thank you, Cairns!
