Meet the Wonderkin – Nick Deane
Founder
The central story of our Wonder Room features founder and widely known Creative Strategist, Nick Deane. His thirst for adventure has included working with many of Queensland and Australia’s leading local and multinational agencies.
As a dedicated Wonderkarma explorer, Nick was destined to direct greater voyages and in 2004, founded and managed Brisbane Creative Agency, Decoder. Engaging a team of twenty-six people and promoting a culture enveloped in original ideas and magic, Decoder allowed Nick to refine his creative focus to specialise in the areas of brand development, strategy, sponsorship, and community engagement.
Nick worked on a number of significant brand developments and activations, including the brand transition of Comalco to Rio Tinto Aluminium, the creation and rollout of the brand for Australia’s bid for the World Championship of Athletics, various branding activations for the Suncorp Group, and the rebrand of Tavanipupu Island in the Solomons.
In 2012, another adventure was charted when the sale of Decoder opened a pathway to experience an agile consultancy business named Nick Did This. Not only a full-service agency, Nick Did This specialised in brand creation and activation, visual identity, communication planning, internal communication and investor marketing.
In late 2021, the rebrand of Nick Did This was announced, and Wonderkarma was discovered. Continuing to evolve, 2024 saw the opening of a ‘brand’ new affiliate agency, Wonderkarma Vanuatu, to showcase the country’s beauty and diversity to the world. His mission is to bring a new level of expertise to brand and marketing to the South Pacific.
Nick engages in all marketing channels for an array of clients including Qantas, Suncorp, Great Barrier Reef Foundation, Aurizon, BankFirst, Tabcorp, Lives Lived Well, ChallengeDV, Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, Senex, Fraser Coast Regional Council, Tourism and Events Queensland, Toowoomba Regional Council, Toowoomba’s Carnival of Flowers, and Mater Hospital Foundation. In addition to his creative and leadership roles, Nick has chaired and sat on numerous community and industry boards, including Communify, Sponsorship Australia, ADMA, PHN South, and Cystic Fibrosis Queensland.
Nick’s journey through time includes a BA in Fine Arts. He has presented a solo exhibition at The Museum of Contemporary Art and has a captivating object of art hanging in The Australian National Gallery.
