Meet the Wonderkin – Jeff Smith

A long-time Wonderkin, Jeff brings over four decades of experience in delivering top-tier ideas and a broad understanding of brands, campaigns, and communications. He has written across many categories including FMCG, tourism, finance, higher education, superannuation, airlines and local councils.

Jeff began his career in radio, writing commercials and comedy sketches, and says radio is a great place to learn how to write as there is no place to hide. His writing journey includes working on multiple digital, direct mail, outdoor, and radio campaigns and he’s shot television commercials from Paris and New York to Brisbane. Prevalent award wins include many Brisbane Advertising and Design Club awards – including Best of Show – Gold Clios and New York Festivals Awards.

Outside the halls of Wonderkarma, Jeff has his own podcast ‘Origin of the Series’, discussing the Queensland obsession with State of Origin football. A huge music fan, Jeff recently embarked on a musical pilgrimage to the USA, visiting legendary studios, juke joints, dive bars and the like, including that famously curious musical mecca, Graceland.
