Our Reconciliation Action Plan Journey

Wonderkarma, with the support of Reconciliation Australia, has begun the process of developing our first Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). Guided by our leadership team, we are at the beginning of what will be an exciting journey for the organisation and the team.

We are committed to developing our RAP to ensure we are proactively engaging in a sustainable, strategic and inclusive manner to advance reconciliation – firstly within our organisation, and then to lead by example across our industry in Queensland, South Australia and Australia as a whole.

Acknowledging the stated core pillars of relationships, respect and opportunities, we are committed to developing an RAP that delivers tangible and real benefits for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.

There are many reasons why Wonderkarma is committed to developing an RAP. Perhaps the most important is the significant impact it had on the team when working with Traditional Owners and the Great Barrier Reef Foundation on delivering outcomes under the Reef Trust Partnership Agreement. This co-design process and consultation provided us with a valuable level of education and understanding on cultural priorities in the context of the Traditional Owners and the Great Barrier Reef.

We are also learning and growing every day through our partnerships with Darumbal Enterprises, Goondoi Arts Aboriginal Corporation, Aak Puul Ngantam Cape York, Radiant Life College, Wet Tropics Management Authority, and Pollination Foundation/ReefTO.

The conversations we’ve had and the people we’ve met reinforced our commitment to developing the Wonderkarma RAP and add our voice to the many others to increase economic equity and support First Nations self-determination.
